Role of Hydrodistention and Intravesical Hyaluronic Acid in Treatment of Bladder Pain Syndrome: Case Report

Bladder pain syndrome (BPS) causes decreased mental and physical quality of life. The diagnosis treatment BPS must be made effective; however, the was still not satisfactory for most patients. Two cases were presented to urology clinic treated with a combination hydrodistention intravesical hyaluronic acid (HA) periodically. After 3-8 hydrodistension instillation, patients showed symptom improvement indicated by O’Leary Sant Questionnaire (symptom score 19-21 before became 3-4 after treatment, problem 8-16 0-2 treatment), visual analogue scale (7-10 global response assessment (GRA) markedly improved. Both had glomerulations during cystoscopy, second Hunner Lesion. A pathological examination bladder biopsy specimens acute chronic inflammatory cell infiltration. HA beneficial treating in this study. Further study such as clinical trial is needed prove efficacy safety treatment.
